As you may or may not have noticed from the couple of deviations I've put up, I'm back! Nanowrimo was an EPIC fail for me this year, as I only got to some 35000 odd words! Ah, well. C'est la vie.
At any rate, I've been fairly busy. Last weekend, I got to go to a weekend with my exchange program (which means that all of us in Slovakia got to get together- so awesome!) in Senec, and Bratislava, Slovakia, and a day in Vienna, Austria. Epic. Maybe I'll be nice and post some pictures. And a scheme has been formed through which some of the girls are going to dye my hair when we get together in Košice next month. Coincidentally, if you know my mother, don't mention this to her. She's not going to be happy with me when she finds out. Oh well. It's my hair, right? That's what my friends keep telling me, at any rate, and since I absolutely despise my hair color....
Of slightly more interest is the strange Slovak practice that is Stuškova. It is this odd mix of the American prom and graduation. So odd. Suffice to say that it was both very interesting, and a lot of fun. I did have to dodge alcohol, as it was flowing like the river Jordan. Other than a ceremonial sip of champagne, I had half a glass of wine which one of my classmates talked me into drinking. Let it be known: White wine tastes just as bad in Slovakia as it does in France. For the record. I also got my first declaration of love at Stuškova. Granted, the boy in question was totally smashed, and his words were blurred together, but it's still a little hard to mistake the words "jellolids, I love you. Really, I love you." (well, granted, he didn't say jellolids, he used the nickname by which I go here. If you actually know me, you probably know what it is). I have yet to figure out how he remembered that my Slovak totally sucks in his alcohol induced idiocy. He was most definitely opitý. Very much so. I'm still debating whether I should be flattered, creeped out, or just highly amused.
So, that's about it. I'll try to get something up for The Wind City in the near future. Should be pretty easy, as I don't have school from yesterday until.... January 11. Yeah. An entire month off. It's not fair, Americans, I know, but such is life.

....If I promise I'm still alive, will that help?
So, after about four years of radio silence, another update on how life is going. Ummm... I just graduated from college, with a B.A. in French, magna cum laude, and an even shinier degree from my school's honors college. Which also means that I wrote a senior thesis to get that shinier degree. If you ever feel the urge to listen to someone babble about Occitan (that's a language spoken in the south of France that you've probably never heard of, and probably don't particularly care about), let me know. After having wrote 71 pages about it, I assure you, I'm up to the task. Other than that, I'll be going back to my university in the fall t
Life Moves On...
So, finally updating the journal for the first time in a psychotically long time. For those curious, I did eventually decide to give up studying Chinese. Smartest decision I've ever made. I'm so much happier now, and a LOT less stressed out! At any rate, I'm now majoring in French, and thinking along the lines of getting minors in Russian, Spanish, and Economics. We'll see if I can get through the necessary Spanish classes without totally cursing the language, but I LOVE Russian! It's just different enough to be really interesting, but similar enough that I have a basis for comparison. Plus, it has an alphabet. Words cannot describe ho
Why does this week have to be an epic week?
So. What's been going on with life recently....
Well, this week, I've been reconsidering my life trajectory! The story goes something like this:
I've figured that studying Chinese would be a good plan since I was a freshman in high school. By Sophomore year, I had decided that I would double major in French and Chinese, then go on to law school... you get the picture. Last summer, I entered an intensive Chinese program. I did well during the summer; I wasn't the best by any means, but I was still getting As, so I figured all was well.
Then came the school year.
I suddenly realized that not only was I coming to hate the language, bu
Ehehe... Oops?
...I have been avoiding updating my journal. My apologies. In my defense, since I last updated, I've been through... two house changes, a presentation in Slovak, a trans-Atlantic plane ride, an epically hard, nasty, and time consuming summer program, two dorm move-in days, and... something like a month and a half of university.
In short, I've been kind of busy. Hopefully, you'll all forgive me.
So, since I last updated, I've relocated back to the United States, and begun university, starting in on my lovely French and Chinese double major, with a degree from my university's honors college. Never let it be said that I'm not academically
